This series is a taste of Italy, and was inspired by our trip to Italy a couple of years ago. I was pregnant at the time and my senses were in overdrive. The almost indescribable beauty was mesmerizing in every way. The smell of the breads baking in the market, the taste of the perfectly sweetened gelato, and the sound of accordions in the street- to name a few. I could have eaten the handmade pasta, pizza and pastries forever.

The value of time around the table with loved ones, and slower pace of life was inspiring in itself. You can’t help but stop and delight in all the creation that surrounds. Unending color in the buildings and greenery growing throughout is something I definitely wanted to capture in response. The clothes lines draping from window to window with different blouses waving in the breeze, and the reflections of Venice in the deep teal waters were unforgettably alluring.

My hope is that these paintings take you around the bakeries of Rome to the colorful streets of Florence, across the Amalfi coast and through the canals of Venice.
